The donations and the great work of our volunteers on the ground in Libya has enabled the WMCL to make more of difference delivering aid to those who urgently need it.

At the start of October, a WMCL volunteer, Alla Baiou, organised a delivery of a variety of medical goods and equipment to Misrata. This included wheelchairs, crutches and braces. She was able to co-ordinate with the local suppliers in Tripoli, who either provided a discounted rate or donated the supplies and equipment.

Through her network of contacts, Alla was able to arrange storage, loading and swift delivery to Misrata. The goods arrived 48 hours later and were immediately put to use. Below is the list of supplies delivered:

¨ Wheelchairs (20 units)

¨ Crutches (120 units)

¨ External fixators (8 units)

¨ Plaster moulds for casts (200 rolls)

¨ Hinged knee braces (20 pieces)

¨ Knee supports (20 pieces)

¨ Ankle braces with supporters (20 pieces)

¨ Philadelphia collars (20 pieces)

¨ Soft collars (20 pieces)

¨ Dorsolumbar braces (20 pieces)

¨ Lumbosacral braces (20 pieces)

¨ Wrist brace splints (20 pieces)

¨ Finger splints (ra50 pieces)

¨ Arm slings (30 pieces)

The WMCL is also participating in readying a convoy of aid to Jufra. We will have further details regarding this convoy in the coming days.

Previously, the WMCL delivered vast quantities of medical and food supplies to Benghazi, Tobruk, Zwara, Nafusa Mountains,,Dheba, Tatawin, Misurata, Zintan, Sirte, Beni Walid, Ejdabiya, Rajban and Sebha.

Donations and aid in kind came from the UK, Jordan, Dubai, Ireland, Canada, Bahrain, Dubai, Tunisia, Egypt, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Malta,Spain, Germany, Greece and California.

Once again, the WMCL would like to extend its gratitude to all those who have been raising funds and making donations. Without this valuable support, it would not be possible for the WMCL to carry out it’s work on the ground.

South of Libya, Sirte and Bani Walid are now facing a health and environmental crisis. Thousands of injured young men, traumatized children and families still need help and support.
